Clinical Supervision for Therapy Associates

Social work supervision in Washington State.

In supervision we will focus on important topics like ethics, paperwork, and case conceptualization, AND we will also attune to how you can have a balanced, sustainable career. This is not easy work, and many people burn out on it, which brings risk not just to clinician but also to the people we serve. Turning into the facets of relational and therapeutic work is essential, and we must consider how we can balance our lives with this work, recognize our limits, and continue to find meaning and inspiration when things feel difficult.

I’ve worked as a clinical supervisor for over 10 years, and about half of my practice involves clinical supervision. I provide supervision within my private practice and also as a contractor and employee for various Seattle-based organizations including THIRA Health, University of Washington, and Riverbank Therapy. I’m an LICSW, approved Washington state supervisor since 2015, and have clinical experience in the following:

  • Trauma treatments using coping skills, somatics, exposure, and process-based approaches.

  • DBT, ACT, and exposure-based approaches to therapy.

  • Eating disorders, suicidality and high acuity issues including working in and/or with higher level of care facilities (residential, PHP, IOP), considering when/ if to refer to such places, as well as the importance of harm-reduction approaches.

  • Working with teens, families, and adults.

  • Incorporating mindfulness techniques into clinical practice.

  • How to approach clinical work in a way that is informed by values of anti-oppression and liberation for all.

Individual Supervision

I meet with individuals for supervision to provide support and oversight for their clinical work. This work can be done in conjunction with your primary supervisor if you work for a group practice or an agency. If you run your own practice then this work can be done with me as your primary supervisor.

My supervision is a good fit for social workers and mental health counselors who are eager to find an approach to work that will be balanced and grounded in ethics and values of anti-oppression. I will be interested in helping you find the parts of this work that excite you and inspire you.

Group Supervision

My bi-weekly group supervision meeting periodically has openings, and is open to clinical social work associates in all settings. Feel free to inquire about joining. If in private practice, participants must be involved with regular, individual supervision (doesn’t have to be with me).

Group supervision:

  • Every other Tuesday at 1 pm

  • $50 per meeting

  • Takes place via Zoom

Supervision for Organizations

Does your organization need a clinical supervisor? I can provide clinical supervision for social workers, a wonderful way to provide extra support for employees as this can help them work towards their licensure and also have another place to discuss their work and their goals. I have done this work with agencies and also with therapy group practices. Feel free to reach out to discuss the possibility of this type of contract work.
